What's included in a home organization consultation?

Our first home visit marks the start of a conversation about our client’s specific organizing challenges, discussing your goals and priorities, and learning about your lifestyle. The information shared will help us create an effective organizational plan.

How long does a typical organization project take?

Although it varies based on several factors, SpaceLove follows the “4-2-8 rule,” which means that an area roughly 4 feet wide, 2 feet deep, and 8 feet tall takes about four hours to organize.

How do you decide what stays and what goes?

SpaceLove employs the “3-second rule” for projects that require extensive decluttering before selecting the best organizational options. This quick method helps decide whether to keep or toss an item in just 3 seconds. If you can’t decide within that time, the item will be automatically retained. It helps overcome decision fatigue and procrastination, making decluttering faster and more confident.

What happens to items I want to donate or discard?

The sorting process in the “3-second rule” results in three categories: keep, donate, and discard. Most items that are discarded end up in residents’ waste bins within one to two scheduled pickup days. For large disposal items, SpaceLove will coordinate with a removal service for pickup. Regarding donated items, we will discuss the client’s preferred charities or other organizations they support and then determine which donated items will go to which organizations. SpaceLove will coordinate pickups and drop-offs of these items.

Do you supply organizing supplies, or do I need to buy them?

Once the decluttering project is finished, we will assess the supplies needed to create functional, organized, and attractive systems that are sustainable and provide the most benefit to the family. SpaceLove always aims to reuse existing organizing solutions and supplies within the client’s home. When we identify supplies to buy, our process is to shop off-the-shelf first before considering custom options. Our team acts as your shoppers, sourcing all the necessary supplies to complete the project.

How do you help maintain organizational systems long-term?

After we finish organization projects, SpaceLove provides our clients with a digital document that contains all the tips and tricks for long-term sustainability. Some tips include the “one-in-one-out rule,” establishing daily routines to prevent clutter, and the FIFO method (first in, first out), so our clients can keep frequently used items at the front, reducing clutter and saving money over time. SpaceLove also offers contracts for our clients that include quarterly or biannual check-ins and updates.

What is your fee for organizing services?

SpaceLove offers personalized, client-focused solutions. Our base rate starts at $150 per hour, which covers all essential services to turn chaos into calm in our clients’ spaces. Items purchased are billed at pass-through costs plus a flat 15% sourcing fee, based on the total receipt amount. The minimum commitment to book SpaceLove’s services is three hours.
