What's the difference between styling and interior design?
Interior design and styling, while both related to creating attractive and functional spaces, have distinct focuses. Interior design is a broader field that includes planning, designing, and executing a space, covering structural elements, layout, and functionality. In contrast, interior styling emphasizes aesthetic aspects, such as selecting and arranging furniture, decor, and accessories to create a specific look and feel.
Do you work with existing décor and furniture or recommend new purchases?
SpaceLove’s approach to each project is to minimize the number of new items purchased for their reimagined spaces. We call it Shop from Home. The process typically involves creating updated vignettes around the home with new groupings and rearranged furniture for better space planning. When new items are necessary, SpaceLove will find the perfect additions that complement your cherished belongings.
How do you determine the best layout for my space?
We begin by considering how the space will be utilized throughout the day and in various seasons. What are the functions of each room? How do you want the room to feel? Is natural light important to you? What are the traffic patterns within the room? These points, among others, are discussed during the initial consultation.
What's your process for selecting colors and accessories?
Before we start the project, SpaceLove will work with you to create a mood or vision board, helping us develop a clear understanding of your inspirations and begin styling a space you love. Once this step is complete, we will select items in your space that you’d like to include in your design and choose colors that create a cohesive look. New items purchased will blend seamlessly with your existing accessories, resulting in a beautiful, unified space.
How do you make a big impact in the homes you style on a budget?
You'll be surprised at how we can transform your space with minimal investment. Rearranging your furniture and existing décor, introducing new textures, adding pops of color, and incorporating plants will make a significant impact. Other tactics include updating your lighting and finding personalized art that doesn’t cost much but reflects your personality.
What is your fee for styling and space planning services?
Our base rate is $150 per hour, which covers all services to create inspired spaces for our clients. Items purchased are charged at pass-through costs plus a flat 15% sourcing fee, based on the total amount of the receipt.
