Our Story – The Heart Behind Broken Leash
Two Dog Moms, One Vision: A Canine Community Like No Other in Charleston
Our Mission
Pioneering Charleston’s Premier Dog Park & Bar
At Broken Leash, we intertwine the freedom of off leash play with the laid-back vibes of a dog-friendly bar. It’s a place where Charleston’s dog lovers converge for quality time with their pets and each other.
Meet the Visionaries Behind Broken Leash
Rooted in a shared vision of a vibrant community for dogs and their companions, Heidi Ransom and Shannon Lewis, the duo behind Broken Leash, bring to life a sanctuary where freedom and care coexist. Their entrepreneurial spirit and mutual love for creating social spaces have given rise to a unique dog park and bar.
Here, every dog enjoys the liberty of play in a secure, lovingly monitored environment, while their humans relax and connect over a shared love for their pets. It’s the embodiment of their belief that socialization and safety should go paw-in-hand, ensuring a joyful and healthy experience for all.
All dogs must have current vaccinations, including Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella. Dogs must be socialized and non-aggressive. For detailed requirements, see our Full Park Rules.

in the last weekA great option that is much safer than public dog parks, serves beer and is open after dark.

in the last weekThe Broken Leash Dog Park is the best! It’s always clean, friendly, and my dog loves the pool they put out — he runs straight to it every time. Great community, plenty of space, and thoughtful touches that make it our favorite spot! 🐾

in the last weekThis place is so much fun and makes for such a good place to spend a Saturday afternoon (or any day/night)! We went the first time and have purchased a day pass bundle because we enjoy it so much. Our Goldendoodle Hudson has such a good time and is making friends along the way! Cold beers, good boys (and girls) as far as the eye can see and great service and people every time we have been! Always a phenomenal food truck in the lot for some good bites. We can’t recommend this place enough! Great for dogs of all age and sizes! Come hang out, grab a beer, let the dogs run around, and meet some great people!

in the last weekGreat dog park experience. Really attentive staff and love that there is a “ruff-eree” than helps manage the dogs and keeps the peace.
